Willing To Learn

I’m Miriam Neff, and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan, with Wise Women Managing Money.

M When life gets bumpy, money often becomes a dreaded word. Whether starting out newly independent, or starting over after life changes, talking finances, even facing reality can be scary.  Valerie, help us get started.

V Lets change the word ‘scary’ to ‘learning opportunity.’  Research, ask questions of people with expertise.  God says plant your field, in other words get established with income, before building your house.  Our culture gets it backwards.  It says pick where and how you want to live, get credit cards, and hope to get a job to make it happen.  That’s a disaster.  As a general guideline, housing cost should be less than 30% of your income.
