Mathare Valley

I’m Miriam Neff with Wise Women Managing Money and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan.

M  Are you challenged or even discouraged by your financial reality today?  It’s good to step back and get a bit of perspective.  Our family traveled to the Mathare Valley in Kenya to help widows.  This is one of the poorest slum areas in Africa.

V We were invited into the home of Nadine, a widow we’d be training. This Christ follower was supporting her children, nieces, and nephews in a tiny twelve square feet space, with a small corner for cooking, one pot and sleeping mats.  Her real treasure matched ours.  Nadine, as well as we, are wealthy because we have the treasure of Christ. 

M A precious lesson when finances are frustrating is that contentment is never gained through stuff we own.
