Gift Giving

I’m Miriam Neff and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan with Wise Women Managing Money.

M December is a month of gift giving.  Why the tradition?  It may have started with the three Magi who followed the star to baby Jesus in Bethlehem.  They gave gifts of great worth:  gold, frankincense, myrrh.

V Mary and Joseph were common folks.  They must have been shocked.  How was the wealth spent?  Some guess that his parents used it to secure a better childhood education in their Jewish history and customs than they could afford.  Others say that might be why he had a cloak with no seams, which would have been more expensive than traditional cloaks.  We simply do not know.

M The gifts reflected the hearts of the givers.  A good place for us to begin our gift preparations.
