Home Change

I’m Miriam Neff, and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan, with Wise Women Managing Money.

M If you’re starting over financially, whether from job loss, divorce, or death of your spouse, you may need to change locations or downsize; and your thinking may be clouded by that crisis.

V Scripture is clear that you establish your income before determining your home.  So, the FIRST step is what is realistic in your new circumstance?  If you own and sell, is it wise to buy, or even possible? Thankfully mortgages are harder to get, and you must be a dependable borrower.  Would renting be wise as a transitional move?

M I’d say rent rather than buy hastily especially if you’re moving to an unknown area.  Delay the decision if it’s feasible while you think through the process, and always get wise advice.
