8 Rating Your Life Values

I’m Miriam Neff, and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan, with Wise Women Managing Money.

M We encourage you to take inventory of your life values.  Is this important in making financial decisions?  For sure.  You’ll find this rating tool in our book Wise Women Managing Money.  Discretionary spending must flex in times of change, including inflation, and family stages.  This rating tool focuses us on values such as education, pleasure, generosity, security, adventure,  and more.

V Is our money flowing to what we value?  If not, we flex. If security is more important than adventure, our savings and spending will reflect that. Is generosity more important than building wealth? It’s easy in the business of life, working, caring for children, to be on autopilot spending.  That doesn’t work when the unexpected happens. We encourage couples to talk, pray and prioritize together.
