Burning Money

I’m Miriam Neff, and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan, with Wise Women Managing Money.

M You’ve heard the phrase, ‘burning through money.’  That means spending quickly, and often having little to show for it.  Loaning money to a friend or relative with a poor work ethic is lighting a match to that dollar or check. 

V What creates a hotter, faster burn.  Oxygen.  What gives oxygen to burning through money.  Impulse decisions.  Delaying gratification until you determine ‘is this wise?’ squelches the fire. Wanting to be the good ‘hand out’ person?  Opps, is that enabling that person who wants your money because they aren’t being responsible themselves?

M Does this matter to God?  Certainly.  Its all His on loan to us, not to burn through but to provide, be generous, and promote God’s principles and purposes.
