M I was dismayed recently to discover that someone I care about is looking at a financial future without enough resources.  With the stock market crash in 2008 their portfolio was halved.  In fear they withdrew to a money market.  No portfolio growth

V Investments in equities, whether stocks have risks and volatility.  Yet historically the markets have grown year over year, with down years offset by growth years.  A good financial advisor can point you to more conservative options that still grow. 

M The parable of the talents in Matthew 25 encourages us to multiply what we have.  Fear of loss yielding no return is not rewarded.
