Understanding Stocks

I’m Miriam Neff, and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan, with Wise Women Managing Money.

M God sometimes allows us to have more than we need. Deciding where to invest surplus is important.  I’m a fan of stocks.  But that requires research, choosing wisely, and having a long-term view.  Blue chip stocks represent big established companies.  Look at their track record.  Which ones have consistent growth?  Which give dividends regularly?  Smaller companies may have more volatility, faster appreciation combined with risk.

V The reality with stocks is generally the greater the possibility of bigger rewards, the greater the risk of loss.  Thats why it’s wise to diversify.  A good advisor will help you determine how much risk you can assume, given your resources, age, and other assets.  As Proverbs 24: 6 stresses.  Get wise council from many.
